Michelle “Bunny” Watkins

About the Artist

Michelle “Bunny” Watkins is an illustrator from Raleigh, North Carolina, who enjoys engaging in elements of fantasy and nostalgia. The process of her work is rooted in her love of light-hearted and whimsical imagery, such as childhood plushies, fairies, and jesters. Through the use of colored pencils, watercolor, and acrylics, Bunny produces vibrant and colorful illustrations.

Her artistic themes are often light-hearted and whimsical, but sometimes she enjoys adding an unsettling twist. Imagery such as plantlife, fairies, and childhood plushies often appear in her work. The use of traditional media,  such as colored pencil, used in many of her works, combined with these playful themes, creates an engaging scene that she hopes will uplift viewers’ hearts and inspire their imagination.

Bunny is graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, concentrating in Illustration. She is currently working on illustrating her first children’s book, The Recess Lesson by Beth Pressley. After graduation, Bunny will continue to illustrate children’s books and teach art to elementary school children.
